Happily on our way to Bintan for a quick getaway!
We never fail to pamper ourselves..
Banyan Tree's welcome drink on arrival -Ginger Lemongrass
When we entered our Pool Villa-Seaview, we saw the beautiful decor on our bed written "Happy Birthday" and the lovely towel folded 'swan couple' facing each other. A Nice gesture of the hotel for this arrangement unfortunately, they forgotten the birthday cake I requested for. I was a little upset. I looked into the minibar, found a nicely wrapped up chocolate box thinking this is specially for S but surprised to see all the chocolates were toppled up inside. Another disappointment!
Banyan Pouch including the amenities for usage during our stay. These pouches used to be complimentary, now, they come with a price tag - USD 12 each. (exclude amenities)
Banyan Tree of its own brand of hair wash and body wash.
Little green turtle for you to keep as a souvenir if you make a contribution to the Green Imperative Fund. A mere USD 2 will be added to your bill when you check-out. You have option not make the contribution if you are not keen.
It's a pity we didn't try the newly revamped jacuzzi cos of the chilling water and too many mosquitoes outside. Otherwise, it would be spectacular view to dip in jacuzzi and listen to waves sound...
The food is definitely overpriced even before the service taxes. Food not too bad but to pay the price of the same amount in SGD to USD, that's way too much.
Our next day breakfast @ Tree Tops.. not really a wide spread buffet but good enough to fill your stomach. I didn't take the food picture as not appetizing to me. More of the scenery.. fabulous view of the ocean if you take the outdoor seats.
I love the ambiance a lot...the beautiful nature..accompany with some sea breeze
This is one of the main pool near near to The Spa, The Gallery and Tree Tops.
We went to Pasar Oleh Oleh to take a look. Booked a private transfer at the cost S$30 to & fro. Dismayed to see a dead town. Nothing much to shop as many shops have closed down. The Aroma Spa is still there and the rates as before, very reasonable. You may consider to try out if you visit Bintan. They do provide free hotel pick-up and drop-off transfer if you a make the spa booking with them. We found one decent cafe and we decided to have lunch there.
A simple lunch plus a side dish of fried tapioca. Guess how much it costs for this meal??? Only S$28 including drinks. Really cheap and the food is good. Very affordable pricing compare to what I had @ Angsana Pantai Grill on previous day.
Overall sum-up, we enjoy this trip as this meant to be a relaxing getaway for both of us. We slack...we laze... we slept a lot... only setback is the amount we paid for the hotel stay is not justified and our special request was overlooked. One more feedback which I must highlight to the hotel's housekeeping. We saw many big black ants around the toilet bowl and it's disgusting. We sprayed and flushed away the ants a few times yet they keep coming back. It's my first encounter and I really hate to use the toilet during my stay.
My personal view, if Banyan Tree Bintan continues with such maintenance and services, I don't think many guests would like to revisit the property. They would rather choose other hotels. Utterly disappointed with this property! The branding does not live up to its name.
