I LoVe Mangosteen

Its the tropical season now and I'm going to enjoy eating all my favorite fruits again.
I love durians, rambutans, mangos, lychees, longans and mangosteens. I was really excited when I saw a whole basket of mangosteens on the table at S' house. I can't resist and help myself to one and follow by another and another....until I had my 5th, I told myself  'You must stop Shelle!'... €')

I don't like the color of the mangosteen. I never fancy purple color and it reminds me one of my hated vegetable- Eggplant. But once you crack open it's shell, you will find the luscious white fruit that tastes like a sweeter, softer, honey-coated version of lychee.

I didn't bother to find out more about Mangosteens until now when I want to blog about it. It's interesting and I'm surprised to find out the fruit and bark of the mangosteen tree have been used in traditional medicine for ages. The fruit contains xanthone, an antioxidant thought to be able to treat cancer — some companies market it as an energy drink or a tablet. Some people think it can treat acne, improve joint movements, and boost the immune system, too.

I am not a great cook as well as not a food blogger. I do not describe food as detailed as other bloggers. But I think mangosteens should be eaten alone. It taste natural, refresh and juicy... but if you're one of those picky eaters who doesn't like slimy fruit, try tossing it in a blender with other fruits, juices, and some ice for a quick power-boosting smoothie.
