The Beauty of London

It's my first trip to United Kingdom and I was all excited about it. Although this is not a leisure trip, my main purpose is work but overall I'm glad I have the opportunity to fly there. I get to know a lot of their history, the beauty, the different culture and people of another side of the globe. We flew 13hrs non-stop from Singapore to London by SQ. It's a long flight and surprisingly we don't feel tired when we touched down. Probably due to the morning flight departure and the time difference in London, our ETA was a daytime.

We stayed at The K+K Hotel George in Kensington, for the first two nights. The tube ride took less than 20mins from Heathrow Airport to Earls Court. And barely 10mins walk to the boutique hotel. Initially the room is not what you see above. They gave a terrible room which resembles a dungeon and we immediately requested for change of room. I must compliment the ladies at the reception were friendly and helpful. Hence, we forgot about the bad room totally.

These beautiful houses and flowers bloom were nearby our hotel...

The night was early, so my boss said she would love to visit Holland Park. We were not familiar with that area but luckily, we met a kind passer-by who gave us the direction there.

Outside Holland Park

Inside Holland Park

It took us about 30mins walk from our hotel to Holland Park. The flowers are pretty and colorful.

Whilst we were there, we found that the daytime was much longer than nighttime. The sun rises by 5am and down only between 8-9pm. Unbelievable! I wish Singapore's daytime is also that long like in UK. My only dislike is almost all the shops in London closed at 6pm except supermarkets.

We bought a lot fresh fruits from the super mart when we walked back hotel from Holland Park. These berries cost at least 3 times in Singapore. The other two pics were views taken from our hotel room.

Next morning, we continued to explore London. My boss, Susan, can't wait to visit Hyde Park.

That same day I found out Susan is obsessed with flowers more than me and she would snapped every blooms or colorful flowers she sees.

I named her a 'flower fanatic'! I also love flower but not as crazy as her yet. She loves the weather, the lake, the river, the greens, the nature, everything except shopping.

For the 'Flowers Lovers' or 'Nature Lovers', you will definitely love Hyde Park. It's a huge park and you really get to see many different types of flowers and mostly blooming at this time of the year.. Amazing beautiful sight!

We saw ducklings.. swans...

and people swimming in the cold cold lake. It's freezing at 10 degrees yet we saw two strong men swimming in the morning. Oh my!

Hyde Park, one of the capital's eight Royal Parks covers 350 acres and is home to a number of famous landmarks including the Serpentine Lake, Speakers' Corner and the Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Fountain.

More About Hyde Park
When King Henry VIII and his court were thundering across Hyde Park in 1536 in pursuit of deer and wild boar, it would have been difficult to visualise that years later the noble art of tai chi would be peacefully performed among the trees in the early morning, and the Italianate tenor of Pavarotti would echo across the park, applauded by vast audiences.

Landscape History
Hyde Park was created to satisfy a royal passion for hunting. But over the years it became a place where people have pursued many other pleasures.

*there's a lot more to post.. so stay tuned
